Text Box: The fifth grade language arts curriculum includes units on grammar, literature, vocabulary, and writing.  Our grammar units include sentences, subjects and predicates, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and verbs.  The literature unites focus on comprehension, vocabulary, and figurative language.  We also do mini units throughout the year introducing new vocabulary.  Journal writing is done all year long and concentrates on paragraph writing and using the 6 traits of writing (ideas, organization, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions, and voice).  Our year ends with an exciting poetry unit.  Students read a variety of poetry, write poems, illustrate and write a poetry book, and read aloud poetry to their classmates.       5TH GRADE HOME PAGE
