Discovery Time is a preschool program for children who are 3 years old by September 1st. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Ehlers Intergenerational Center. There will be opportunities for social interaction with staff and other children, large motor activities inside and outside, dramatic play, creative projects, and language development through songs, finger plays and stories. The main focus will be developing the child’s self-esteem by providing activities that offer a feeling of success, as well as manageable challenges.

School Readiness is a preschool program for children entering kindergarten in 2008, funded by Minnesota School Readiness dollars and participant fees. Children will participate in a wide variety of activities and work on social and emotional skills, self-help skills, communication and language skills, fine and gross motor skills and cognitive skills. Studies have shown the importance of parent involvement in school success. Parents of children in School Readiness choose from a variety of involvement options (classroom volunteer, parent nights and parent-teacher conferences.)

Please come and spend special time with your child by participating in our annual Kindergarten Connection classes, 1 1/2 hours a week for four weeks. These classes are planned for pre-kindergarten children and their parents. (Parent involvement has been shown to be the number one factor in school success!) Classes are held in the Ehlers Intergenerational Family Center, the new addition to Reede Gray Elementary School.
